Recently I was given a Mac mini for my bday! excited as a kid with a new toy I started to register myself to .Mac (trial), all is well until I start using Mail. I am told that I can not send any mail out due to my server being null......:confused: ok, so I do as I'm told and try to configure the SMTP settings and guess what....i still can't for the life of me get any mail out?!

Is it because I am registered under the trial version of .Mac or is it cuz I'm as dumb as a brick!?

Any Help would be greatly appreciated, yes even a "whop" behind the head!!

Here's what Apple has to say:

1. Open Mail.
2. From the Mail menu, choose Preferences.
3. In the Preferences window, click the Accounts button if it is not already selected.
4. In the Accounts list, if you have multiple accounts, click your .Mac account.
5. Click the Server Settings button near the bottom of the pane.
6. Verify your SMTP server settings with the following information:
* Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.mac.com
* Server port: 25 (or 587 if your ISP is blocking port 25)
* "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)" should be checked (enabled)
* Authentication: Password
* User Name: Your .Mac member name (without "@mac.com")
* Password: Your .Mac password
7. If the information above is correct and you are certain the your username and password are correct, try changing the Server port to 587. Port 25 may be blocked by your Internet Service Provider.
8. In Mail, from the Window menu choose Connection Doctor.
