Since yesterday, I've been getting this strange error message when opening Mail. It happens on my two Macs at home as well as my Mac at work.

Anyone else getting this message?

I got that message once. I have no idea what caused it, but I dismissed it, closed Mail, relaunched it, and it hasn't appeared again since then.

Seems to be worse today. Here is what my folders look like and the error pops up every time it tries to grab new mail.

There's a suggestion in the thread you linked to, to change the server port to 587 instead of 993. Did you try that?

Not sure why, but trying to view the Apple forum today is a nightmare. Sometimes I get the page, sometimes I get an error. Very weird.

Here's something else to try. This seems to have worked for me.

I've had the same problem with my private domain e-mail. Finally got something to work.

Try this:
When the annoying little window pops up telling you it can't verify... blah, blah, blah, click to show more details below.
Check the "Always trust..." box AND
Go down to where there are three other selections as well. Mine already said Always Trust.
Change the top one to "Use User Defaults" or what ever it says at the top of the drop down.
Restart Mail and see if if comes up again. Mine seems exorcised but who knows what lurks after a reboot.
Blessings,
Jonathan

I had the same problem with my work email as the one who initiated with this post. Hence, I followed what wrldwzrd89 recommended and it worked. Thanks. You people saved a lot of time and frustration
