Im using a .mac TRIAL and im going to get my gmail account working in mail but does it store mail messages on my harddrive, if so ill just stick with my hotmail account lol

You can set up Mail to download your gmail, but keep a copy on the gmail server. That wat you have access to your mail when your not online, you have access to your mail when your online but not at your mac, and I use it as a nice backup as well.
