I am moving from gmail to iCloud email address. I have the mail setup on my phone and iPad and am quickly missing one feature from gmail which was swiping left to archive.

One weird thing that’s happening is that the behavior on the iPhone and the iPad is different even with all settings the same.

On the iPhone, under Setting > Mail > Swipe Options I have Swipe Left set to “None” and Swipe Right set to Archive. So backwards of the way I’m used to it using gmail. However, when I go into my mail app and Swipe Left, I get the archive action and when I Swipe Right I get the delete option, even though that is not how my settings are set up. I have confirmed I am processing mail in the iCloud account and not Gmail account for sure. But, when I set the settings the same way on the iPad, I am getting the expected (although backwards to the way I am used to it) settings just as they are outlined in the Swipe Options menu.

So two questions. Why is the iPhone acting differently than the Settings dictate (even though I like it this way because it’s how gmail was). And is there any way to get iCloud email to reliably display the Swipe Left to Archive and Swipe Right to delete behavior like I am used to when processing gmail messages and on both the iPhone and iPad?
