Mail very slow with attachments

Im sending my emails thru Mail via Gmail IMAP. When I send an attachment of 5MB, it takes 2 minutes to send. Directly from Gmail on the web, the same file takes 2 seconds. This issue is happening on all three of my Macs. I did the Terminal clean up and added open DSN, nothing helps. Any suggestions?
