I have not used Mail for a long time and have no experience with Outlook. Is there any reason to need Outlook for downloading mail with the most recent version of Mail?

Thanks.

I've always avoided using Outlook whenever possible. I've never had a problem using the built-in OS X Mail app.

If you need the functionality of Outlook you need it, if not mail is lighter. Try TB, Outlook, and Mail out at the same time and see what you like best.

I prefer Mail, but I'll be honest. I haven't looked at Outlook in a long time. While I do use it at work (on a PC), I find that mail handles all my needs and I'm using iCloud to sync my mail, contacts and calendar so the apple products and services work for me

I, too, have found that Mail meets my needs.

i know some people need features (such as Read Receipt), which Mail does not provide...but Mail is fine for me.

I used Outlook (Windows) for years at work connected to an Exchange server. Works great in that scenario. After retiring and switching to a Mac, I tried Outlook on the Mac but found it too different from the PC version and decided to switch to Mail since it works better with my iPad and iPhone. Mail does everything I need out of a mail client.
