Since installing OS X Lion I'm getting a few shutdown issues.
When I attempt to shut down or restart, I'm often getting the following error message:

"You haven't been logged out because the application Mail failed to quit. To try logging out again, quit Mail and choose Apple menu > Log Out."

I'm wondering if this is a Lion or Mail issue? I've got plenty of RAM (8GB)
So is any body else getting a similar issue?

I've had issues with Mail ever since SL - it's NEVER worked for me. "Add account" is always grayed out, and when I go to quit the application, it just hangs and never closes out. A force-quit fixes the problem, but you get the idea. It's not just Lion. I gave up and downloaded Thunderbird.

I don't have Lion just yet, but I've had problems with my snow leopard mail from time to time where the mail wouldn't shut down. Force quitting mail in the dock isn't available. What I have to do then is open activity monitor highlight mail and then click on force quit. That kills it. I guess it would work the same way with Lion. 
