mail won't play .wav files since 3.1

Prior to updating to 3.1 I could listen to .wav audio files that were emailed to me as an attachment from the mail app, since 3.1 these attachments just show as a lego brick and won't let me play.
I regularly receive .wav files so this is causing me issues, anyone know of a way round this?

I know this prob doesn't help you, but I am able to play .wav files that are email attachments.

hmm strange, my iphone won't do it anymore! is your phone jailbroken?

no its not jailbroken.
the wav files are attachments from my work exchange account. They are voicemails to be specific, not sure if this makes a difference or not

I've just done a restore and the attachments are playing now, was obviously a glitch somewhere..
