when I shut down my MBP, every single time Mail cancels shutdown and I have to force quit Mail to shut down the book. anyone have a fix?

Have you used Disk Utility and repaired your permissions lately? Also, what versions of Mac OS X and Mail are you using? Any other add-on programs or mods? Using POP or IMAP? Any Hotmail accounts?

yeah I repair permissions often. I do use macfree pops to access yahoo and hotmail, although I believe hotmail doesnt work anymore. could that be the problem?

I also run IMAP for my work/school address and Pop gmail accounts
