Mail???

Ok so my mom has a @aol mail address and so do I

Mine woks fine with Apple mail and iPhone but
Hers does not work with Apple mail and i Can not figure it out
It will receive mail but you cant send mail.

She is using the aol website and it is making her hate Apple (she is not techie) because it is so hard to use.

If she can receive mail from AOL then check the settings for the SMTP server (out-going mail) under Mail>preferences>accounts>AOL account. Compare them with yours.

Are you using IMAP and did you allow Mail to set the account up for you (or your Mom) ?

I'm sure that you configured hers just like yours but just to make sure, check to see if you set her outgoing as SMTP with a server name of smtp.aol.com and use port 587 and you have her screen name (without the @aol.com) and password correct. I think that's about it. -GDF

nope when i try to enter the smtp it says it cant connect
