I can figure out how it works , it says it has downloaded all the new mails but still shows the old ones, not the recents ones
Ps, i have been getting mails through browser for about a year that i have had my mac ...FML ..lol

Are you setting it up as IMAP or POP3?

You should definitely use IMAP. That way your mail will be the same whether you look at it online or via Mail.app. Setup instructions can be found on the gmail website.
