mail5.1: smart mailbox - how to remove from inbox

when i define a smart mailbox for eg. server-generated messages, I want them to only show in that mailbox and not in the inbox as well.... any ideas how to do that?
in opera for example, smart mailboxes have the option to 'hide these messages from other views'...
