I was reorganizing my Mailboxes in Apple Mail (3.6) and so I moved mailbox A into mailbox B. Something happened.... and when I clicked inside the mailbox B, mailbox A wasn't there. Couldn't find it. I quit Mail and then it appeared. But when I clicked inside mailbox A, the messages were gone.

Is there anyway to recover the messages? My last backup of a few weeks ago will have some, but not the latest.

Thank you for any tips here.

Try this. Select Archive Mailbox.

thanks for suggestion, but when I archive and then import, still empty... uh-oh

Just found a solution - Data Rescue II - found the mboxes, restored and then imported. Seems to have worked 90% anyway..... whew.

I should start using that Time Machine - I'll have to read about it.

Is there a reason why you couldn't just pull all the mail from the server again? This should work unless you're using POP and you deleted all the mail from the server, but left it in your mail client.

If his mail was in folders then they would be removed from the server I believe. That's what happens with mine.

Yes, POP.
I download from the server and the server deletes the files after a week I think

Seems like Mail is improving, but still kind of quirky and I've had a few issues like this with corrupt mailboxes and then, poof, everything's gone.
But I need to backup more rigorously.

I know what you mean. I've had to go through this process many times. My heart stops for a bit when I think I've lost my files

Updated Mail and accounts are gone!!

Hello everybody.
Something similar happened to me.
I updated Mail, and when I restarted a request of password for a .mac account (the one I signed up for free and never used) appeared.
After that none of my mailboxes were, are actually, anymore!!!
It deleted all? The accounts? It's POP so the only hope I have is to get my old mails looking for them in any of the sys folder or so.

Anyone can help me, please? :S :apple:
