Mail's "Send" Button Not Working

I upgraded my daughter's White MacBook to Snow Leopard last week. Since then, the "Send" button in Mail(v4.6) doesn't work. By that I mean that when the pointer moves over it, it doesn't change colour, and of course, doesn't send mail. Obviously, it was working fine before.

Any suggestions please?
