MainStage 3 won't let me play samples from EXS24

I find my sampler instrument in the EXS24 library, and I also see my samples laid out in the EXS24 editor inside MainStage. I can even play the samples in the editor, by clicking the keyboard at the bottom of the pop-up screen.

The only thing I can think off that is an indicator of why it doesn't work, is that when I'm in edit or perform mode in MS, there's no colored bar over my on-screen keyboard. This leads me to believe MS isn't seeing my samples, it only acknowledges that I have loaded in the EXS24 instrument and my customized sampler instrument.

I'm using MainStage 3 running Mavericks 10.9.5 on a MBP from 2014.

Any thoughts?
