Ugh, have had this machine for almost a month now, and I love it. However, this last week, it has started to develop a problem with the WiFi.

I use my computer at my desk in my bedroom which is located in a recessed area in the room (used to be a closet). I have used this desk setup for over 7 months without any problems. A uMB I owned prior to this system worked 100% perfect in this closet. My new system up until this week has played fine as well. I get full bars when at my desk, but regardless of that, I sometimes do not get internet connectivity and/or I get a "!" over my airport status in the menu bar. Or it fails to connect to the router at all, or even see it.

I have been playing with the router, changing channels and protection types and this and that, and get SOME results... for a few minutes, and then the problem reoccur. I usually get better/more stable coverage when I remove the computer from the desk and move closer to my router-- but I don't understand why with is necessary as the computer has functioned 100% fine there fore nearly 3 weeks. I have changed the router to G-Only, Channel 1, WPA2 protection (the WPA was something I have been meaning to do for a while, had WEP before). This produces some stability... but not perfect.

I have also reset PRAM in efforts to help with no luck, as well as the Hardware Test from my install discs which said all was well. I have read several other forums/stories about this and am at a loss for what to conclude.

I would like to go to the Genius Bar... but I don't think this is anything that they could help with in store, I don't believe that swapping hardware would have any affect as all reports to be well and the problem is pretty widespread.

Is this an OS problem, meaning I just need to waited for 10.6.2 and hope it gets fixed? Is this a hardware problem? Is it a router problem? (I use the Linksys WRT54G)... do I need to get a AEBS, or is the issue still present there? Just really upset that there is such a major issue.

Anyone have anything comforting to say? haha.

EDIT: Also to note, my APX will not connect to my network since I implemented WPA2 regardless of my updating the information on it. ;_;

EDIT 2: Turned my APX into a network of it's own that way I have two access points to trouble shoot with. If I have better luck with the APX as a base station, I may have to get an AEBS.
