nevermind, this seems to be a non-issue as i can still make speaker calls while it sits on my desk. thanks!

OMG! I have the same problem.

One solution might be to amputate your left arm and replace it with an artificial one that wouldn't bridge the gap in the antennae? Just a thought.

Cool story, bro.

Return it and get a Droid.

and finally: you are holding it wrong.

p.s. it's a non-issue

p.p.s. blackberries taste better than Apples - ask Adam and Eve.

The fix is Don't hold the phone.
The other way to solve this is hold the button on the top for 5 seconds then slide the red bar across the top of the screen,
this should stabilize the signal.

THIS JUST IN!!!!

update: i dropped my iphone in the soup i was eating and that solved the problem! perhaps the early iphones werent dropped in soup before leaving the factory?

Why did you get the iP4? The iP5 was just released with a new and improved antenna.

The reception issue doesn't really bother me all that much anymore now that I have a case. Sucks though.

What really bothers me is the OTHER major flaw I've come to find... my iPhone 4 doesn't cook breakfast for me! WTF?!
