Nothing has changed on my network. However, in Mavericks on my Macbook Pro, I am not getting any response when I ping/ftp a local address. It gives 100% packet loss and timeout errors.

Other addresses on the network are fine. It's also OK in Mavericks on other machines.

Hopefully some network experts can sort me out. Thanks.

Could it be a firewall setting?

Hmm.. if only it were that simple! Firewall in use is my router, firewall disabled in Mavericks. Other Mavericks machines are fine. Other devices on network all responding as normal, it's just one particular device from one particular machine. Very annoying.
