I've literally just installed Snow Leopard on my Mac Mini and it went through successfully. Restarted my Mac Mini and it prompted me to log in, so I did and then the wallpaper comes up but no menubar and I can't see the dock when I hover over it. What's happening? I can still move the mouse.

Help.

Was this an upgrade or a clean install?

Boot up in Safe Mode (details here).

If everything's okay, then it's likely there's some incompatible software you've got on there.

Create a separate user account and boot normally. If everything's okay with the new user, then it's the other user account that has a problem. Perhaps you have an incompatible application running on startup? Check System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items.

As a last resort, yf you have a Time Machine backup, you could perform a clean install and restore from Time Machine.
