Hi all,
I wonder if the open source world has this fixed?
I have hundreds of podcasts that I follow. So rather than automate the downloading process by each podcast, which would really fill up my iPod, I like to categorise my shows into 'Groupings'. I go into each 'channel' and give it a grouping of 1 of 4 main categories of listening, such as "Environmental, Sci-Fi, Science, Writing aids". Then when I'm in a greenie mood I can click Grouping/Greenie and see only my greenie shows, and flick between them and decide which particular episodes to download and put on my iPod.
(I'm amazed that even this process takes so long in a Mac bit of software; Get Info on show, select Grouping field, and type in the name of the group manually. I just did that for all my Writing podcasts. Seriously, what happened to right-click and select? Quick drop and drag? Nope, gone! Man, I'd be happy to do it by colours at this stage as we do in Mac-folders!)
So anyway, one 'Grouping' is done, my Writing grouping.
But now when I hit 'Writing' to browse all the Writing shows I listen to, I cannot preview the headings of the podcast episodes I haven't downloaded yet? This defeats the whole purpose of 'Grouping' them in the first place.
Am I just using iTunes wrong, or is there a faster way to do this? The goal is simply to cluster my shows by category and then preview all my 'Writing' episode headings and decide what to download. Is that so unreasonable?
Cheers.
