Make calls from a contact ring even in silent

I work a rotating schedule, so I put my phone in silent mode a lot, but I still want to recieve calls from certain contacts, wife, kids,etc.

On all of my previous phones, I could create a group, and any contacts in the group will ring even in silent mode. Is there a way to do this on the iPhone4?

iOS 6 has the Do Not Disturb feature, which somewhat provides a solution. Unfortunately, you can only choose Favorites. You can't select or create a group.
