make my vlc player dominate

how can i make my vlc player be the the perminante player rather than itunes or quicktime. i can put open with but it will only open with my vlc player once not all my avi files or other mp3 files will open with vlc. in another words i want my vlc player to open all video files all the time without me going to open with each time.

go to get info/open with/then change all
