Imagine you're streaming music from your Macbook (18.8.5) to a Raspberry Pi using the Airplay compatibility of its RASPBMC OS. Your music may be questionable, but at least it's playing through some decent speakers. But tragedy strikes - the connection is lost. Your Pi decides its time for a software upgrade. When it boots up again, you can no longer see "XBMC" listed in your sounds output devices, even though the Pi is running perfectly well. So you reboot OSX and can now see the device and output to it again. After about 20 or so repeats of this (over some weeks) you decide to look for a solution.

So my question is: is there a way (perhaps console command) to get OSX to refresh its output devices (so the XMBC device re-appears) without having to reboot?

thanks in advance!
