Make the dictation icon go away?

I sent a voice message to this person in the past via iMessage.

IN THE PAST!

Now the dictation icon will not go away from the text entry field. Is there a way to make it go away? Or once you send a voice message to someone, it's stuck there forever?

Edit: did not work. I tried sending one of those iMessage games. The sound recording icon is still there.

Yes, just tried it and it doesn’t work anymore.

But I got rid of it by using the dictation tool bottom right (microphone icon), sent a text and it’s reverted back to normal.

Edit: I guess this makes sense thinking about it, it defaults to the last used voice input method.

Just takes me a quick extra step (switching to iOS built-in keyboard) because I use SwiftKey, but other than that, perfect!
