Make widgets display always?

In Snow Leopard, is there a way to make widgets permanently display on the screen?

Grab the widget, close dashboard, release widget.

How do you grab the widget and close the dashboard? As soon as I click off a widget and onto the desktop it closes the dashboard and makes the widget disappear.

Read this over. It looks like you need to run a terminal command to enable this feature. I have not tried this myself. Make sure you do a backup first.
