I have FINALLY decided on a case or case combo for my new iPhone 6. I have trolling this site for days and days trying to decide. I will be trying a Veil and SurfacePad combo. I like the look of the Surfacepad, and the idea of the veil protecting it all around but still able to see all the Apple design.

In the past with my iPhone 3g&4s There has always been a space for me to friction fix my phone in my dashboard. When I am using Waze i can just glance at the notifications as I check my speed. Now that I have a larger phone it does not fit. I am fascinated with the idea of a magnet mount. My idea is to hide a magnet in my dashboard somewhere and then stick my phone to it when I am driving.

My problem first I don't now how strong of a magnet can I use before it will interfere with my phone? I know I could just buy a mount that has already gone through testing... But I was to use my own case combo and hide the magnet in my dash. Has anyone tried this and found a very strong magnet interferences with the phone?

Related to my first problem, I don't know how large the thin piece of metal should be I use between the Veil and phone thus needing a stronger magnet to attached between the:

Magnet > Dash >< Leather < Veil < Metal

I am also contemplating slicing the back of the Surfacepad and slipping the metal between the adhering surface and outside leather.

Thoughts? Suggestions?
