making a photo from a movie

Hi ..I have a new mac book and would like take photos from movies
How do i do this please ?

Command + Shift + 3

That is the command to take a screenshot

I have tried the Command Shift 3 and it doesnt seem to work
I am just using the program for watching films that comes with the computer .. do i need another program

Does it not put a PNG file on your desktop? That's the default location for screenshots.
