In Motion, there must be a way to make a swoosh across the screen as if you were painting with a paint brush and make one stroke across part of the screen. This is used all over tv.
Any idea how?

Are you talking about having a paint stroke animate across the screen? A color stroke, or are you trying to reveal another video layer?

The simplest way would be to just animate a mask to reveal an actual paint stroke. I work primarily in After Effects, so I'm not too familiar with the options in Motion, but this would definitely be one way to do it.

Motion sucks for compositing. I agree with the AE technique. its simple and very easy to do.
