Hey is there anyway that when I drag an item over the Finder icon in the dock, to make it open the hard drive window so I can drop it to the right place?

Okay, maybe I'm missing something here. Why wouldn't you just drag it to the hard drive icon and drop it in the right place?

a lot of times I have a full window open so I'm too lazy to hit f11 to do it.

Just set up an Exposé hot corner, drag the item to that corner, then drag it to your HD icon. Even better, make the corner the same corner that your HD icon resides in.

Press spacebar with the file dragged over the Finder icon :)

Is that some new-fangled Leopard thing you're rubbing in the face of me, a Tiger user? ;)

I tried it, but it doesn't do anything for me. Maybe I'm just slow.

I just tried it out (in Leopard), never tried it before...
