Is there anyway to make Firefox the fully default browser? where if I click a link in an iChat message or whatever it will open in firefox?

Duff-Man says....this has been asked/answered many times. Oddly enough, you can change the default browser in Safari's preferences, in the "general" tab....oh yeah!

The default web browser setting, bizarrely, is inside Safari Preferences.

it's not bizarre...apple is trying to FORCE you to use Safari...I mean if you have to open safari just to adjust your internet settings...why bother with another browser ON TOP of that...apple will never learn.

So what happens if you trash Safari before changing the prefs?

Do a "get-info" on a HTML document and change the ''open with...'' settings?

If you think that is bad, take a look at M$ and Internet Exploder.

Apple is sometimes exactly like M$ though.

Duff-Man says....yeah, RCDefaultApp is very handy for those little bits and pieces that just changing the default browser does not seem to reach....oh yeah!

prefs get lost at shutdown

i can change the default browser as described above or with RCDefaultApp, but
when i shut down and restart my machine safari sets itself back to the
default browser. Is there a way to stop this?

yes...switch back to m$ and then do the exact same thing with IE...

m$ is a distant memory from the early 90's
the transition is from LINUX where this is a non issue.
