Making Gifs from videos

Is there any software I can use to make animated gifs from movie files without using photoshop?? I'm willing to pay for software but photoshop is out of my price range and I would only be interested in using it to make gifs. Looking for something like Capture Wiz but for mac. Or does anyone know how to make them in GIMP??

Old, but it still works and I made my .gif files with that.
