ok, so i have a picture that i want to make into an icon. First off, i can't get the background away, not matter what i set the background color to, including transparant. As soon as i save the file the picture has a white background. Any tips for me on making an icon? thanks

to get rid of background I had to copy only the content itself. Nothing you want to be transparent should be selected. Then apply the icon through the get info window. I used photoshop for this.

copy
'Get Info' on the folder/file you want to change the icon of
Click on the icon in the get info window
