What free tool (or combination of tools) do you use for designing original CD covers (the jewel case inserts)?

I have used search engines and have the following hits:
1. CD Cover Tool 1.1.6
2. CDStyler 2.2
3. LiteLabel 2.4.2

If anyone can recommend one of those I'd appreciate not having to learn through trial and error.

Any free desktop publishing apps out there that might offer a more powerful way of doing this using their templates?

Thanks!

hi there, we do cd covers all day long and the best thing to do is to get eother photoshop, illustrator, or indesign and then search for free templates offered by print houses for those programs. they also provide free templates sometimes for freehand as well. so if you have any of those, that's the way to go. for cd labels, just get some avery ones if u are printing the label yourself on an inkjet photoprinter. there ya go,.
