I have reached my max on my harddrive on my mac pro, and have just deleted 100gb of videos etc of it. However after emptying my trash it appears that I have only cleared 9gb of space - can anyone assist and tell me why?

Is the Trash empty?
Take a look at DiskInventory X (will not work in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion), OmniDiskSweeper, JDisk Report or GrandPerspective to see where your HDD space went to.
