Is there any easy way to make the Mail dock icon bounce when new mail is received? All I can find is a preference for playing a sound, but I hate system sounds with a passion, so a visual cue would be much preferred...

Any one know how to do this?

Hi mate, create a new rule with every message, then under Perform Following action choose Bounce icon in dock.

I love the way it bounces like that, like it's so excited there's a new email that it's jumping up and down! Or slightly modify that rule the way I did it -- If Sender Appears in my Address Book, then Bounce Icon in Dock. That way spam won't make it bounce.

Thanks for that guys... 1 more for ya:

My mail account is an IMAP account - the Junk, Trash, and Sent folders are all subfolders of the main Inbox folder, which means that I can't set the main Inbox columns to display the "From" column, AND have the Sent folder display the "To" column at the same time - whatever columns I set up are universal across the entire Inbox...

Which sux ass... any way I can set up different columns for different folders? If Mail can't do this properly I'll be right back to Thunderbird I think...

I know this was an old thread but thanks for that tip! I just started using Mail app since I have multiple gmail accounts and it supports it now and it works great to consolidate all my email addresses into one.

Gmail was decent as you could import your other accounts but you'd have to manually check the other inboxes as google doesn't have a feature to check them every minute or so.

Thanks :apple:
