The 3G really should have been made with brushed metal trim (instead of polished chrome) and a matte, rubberized black back. Scratches and fingerprints are less likely to show with such a setup and it would also look a bit more professional/classy.

Anyone aware of a third party who will do cosmetic work?
 
Why don't you cover the screen and the camera and run some fine grit sand paper of the black back and the silver trim.

Indeed, than give it it's final finish by placing it softly in the toilet than flush it 7 times. *Repeat steps if necessary.
