Malfunction Logic Board - to fix(£420) or to buy (Macbook pro 2010))

My 2010 15" 2.66 Macbook Pro accidentally won't turn on after smooth run for 2 years.

I took it to Apple Genius Bar and they said it has something to do with the 'Power Button' on the Logic Board.

Which they have to replace the whole board to fix it and will cost £420 (I have no warranty)


Recently I've read that there might be a new Macbook Pro in a near future.

So I'd like to ask some opinions on this situation, whether paying £420 to Apple, waiting for a new one or take it somewhere else to fix.

See what other (reputable) repairmen can do for you first, because Apple always charge and arm and a leg for things that can be done much cheaper. If Apple are the only option then of course you should get it repaired, because it's better to pay £420 and get perhaps £900-1k sale value than have a useless, dead laptop. Bad luck though
