I was looking for an old PDF book I bought a couple of years ago. I went to the link, and it said I needed to update my flash player. I was stupid and downloaded it since I had previously trusted this site. I immediately realized this was a scam and realized the link now takes to you a different site. I downloaded the free BitDefender app, and it said it didn't find anything on my computer. I then downloaded Malwarebytes, and it found 4 threats (adware). I quarantined then removed them off my computer. I also made sure there were no extensions or anything added to my browsers. Is there anything else I should do? Feeling paranoid and just want to make sure I got rid of everything. Also feeling dumb for downloading the scam in the first place. I'm usually pretty good about not trusting links.

I think you are OK now.
Going forward - No legitimate web site should now be suggesting that you should "update my flash player"
Adobe, for at least a year, has stopped supporting flash player on any platform, and, your macOS system will actively recommend uninstalling Flash Player, if that is found on your Mac.

Malwarebytes probably took care of things for you.

Adobe Flash Player is dead software. Adobe no longer supports it and even recommends that it be removed from your computer.

ANY TIME you see an invitation to download flash, CLOSE THAT PAGE immediately, even if you have to force-quit your browser and start over.
It's crapware/adware, or worse.
