Hello all,

Been away for a while. Since I last posted here, I've spent long enough with an iPad to strongly consider buying one; and one of the functions that interests me, potentially, is that of a portable MAME machine.

I'm aware that iMAME was released briefly last December, before being withdrawn. I'm also aware that a jailbroken iPad 2 can be used to download iMAME4all. But I'm wondering whether there is any way to get MAME (and/or other emulators) onto an off-the-shelf iPad.

One thing that I wondered about specifically - and I'm completely ignorant about jailbreaking - is whether it's possible to jailbreak another device, like my old iPod Touch (which is miles out of warranty), put iMAME4all onto that, then somehow transfer it onto a non-jailbroken iPad...?

I'm expecting that the answer is, "No. Buy an iPad 2, and jailbreak it". But I thought I'd ask, first!

Thanks in advance,

DH.
