Man dies after 3-day gaming binge

A man in southern China appears to have died of exhaustion after a three-day Internet gaming binge, state media said Monday.

The 30-year-old man fainted at a cyber cafe in the city of Guangzhou Saturday afternoon after he had been playing games online for three days, the Beijing News reported.

Paramedics tried to revive him but failed and he was declared dead at the cafe, it said. The paper said that he may have died from exhaustion brought on by too many hours on the Internet.

The report did not say what the man, whose name was not given, was playing.

The report said that about 100 other Web surfers "left the cafe in fear after witnessing the man's death."

our world geography teacher told us about it today.
you think there would be a point where you would get up to eat or something?
i can only laugh at this..

(i bet he was playing habbo. LOL)
 
I've already read this news story, but it was about a year ago. I guess the same thing happened once again.
 
i just don't understand how this happens. your body has needs and it lets you know very well that it needs attention. i don't see how you can focus on something so much that you don't pay attention to your body.

just unbelievable.

He obviously wasn't winning at common sense, or in paying attention to his bodily needs. :D
 
I remember reading about two guys who won a super rare sword in some MMO, and agreed to "share" it. When one guy was hogging it, the other guy took a real sword and killed him. I think the game was Legend of Mir 3.

A couple left to play WoW for an hour at an internet cafe, ended up staying for five, leaving their infant daughter home alone. When they came back, baby was dead.

Man, I don't even play Counter-strike. I am not nearly irresponsible enough! I'm going to go fill my oven with socks and paint cans.

that can happen really fast ... happened to me before that i was so concentrated on something that i forget eating especially when i was a kid
 
Even I couldn't do that. I'd have to at least get up and eat and go to the bathroom every couple of hours. Oh and sleep.

Oh wait, that sounds like what I do every day. :eek:
 
world of warcraft

it is safe to assume this guy was playing world of warcraft. i play it too (but at least i keep it under control) and i know there are chinese "gold farmers" out there who play non-stop to build up gold and sell it for real-life money. i run into these "gold farmers" quite often. first they message me in chinese asking for gold then message me again in poor english. they are in the same area all the time farming for gold.

the characters are played 24/7 to build that gold up...but from what i heard people play the characters in shifts...i do not bleieve 1 person can play the game for 3 days straight.

i agree i think i play better right after pizza, and i defiantly cant focus when i gotta pee

afaik, gold farmers are all run by companies and work in sifts as you have said. this is more likely a player. and the last time this happened it was starcraft so i'd say that could be another possible game. who knows.
