He just used up 8 of his 9 lives on that stunt/cry for help. If he was try to commit suicide, maybe this is an indication from a higher power that his time to go is not now.

If this was just some stunt, then he will surely perish on his next attempt.

Talk about nuts! You have to wonder if he wasn't thinking about suicide.

He should have saved all that luck and played the lottery instead.

You got that right. I lived near the Canadian side of the falls in university and I never heard about any survivors.

When I worked at the border, I had a friend who works with the parks police. Their responsibities included the grim task of fishing the bodies out of the Niagara river. I swear if you heard some of his stories about the condition that some of those bodies pop up in... well let's just say I'm sure it would discourage a few from ending it that way.

Great now I've got this truly nasty image and it's almost lunch...

I always find it amazing the stunts that human beings will try. Most times luck is a matter of timing and skill. I believe that God was with this man.

Apparently he had been going through depression and didn't care if he lived or died. If he died, well he wouldn't have to live through the depression. If he lived, that type of stunt will sure get you out of the blues fast.:D :)

He floated over the edge on his back completely relaxed and peaceful.

I love this guy. Not sure why, but his whole attitude about this stunt is just great.
:)

Because only 1:1000 survive, those 1000 are dead and the Police and Firefighers have to get the bodys out, hence it pays their salary.

Not just that - if one person does it and survives, then all sorts of other silly people try the same stunt.....

Not only should they be fined, but they should also end up paying for the expense of the rescue - which is starting to happen to some mountain climbers when they get stuck and need search and rescue to bail them out.

1901, Anna Edson Taylor, a 43 year old widow, became the first person to survive going over Niagara Falls in a barrel. Congratulations to Anna, may you rest in peace.

I can understand paying for the rescue, but a fine on top of that is just ridiculous.
