Both are GREAT shows. I can't really choose which one i like more. I like how survivor man is really out there living by himself for however long it is, but bear grylls on Man vs. Wild is just a great host.

Top notch entertainment from Discovery, yet again!

I agree. Both shows are good in their own way, making it possible for them to compete with eachother. I love how survivorman really does go out and there and live, and i love how bear teaches people what they should do in the situations they are given. Either way, quality television.

I'm watching Bear suck blood from a dead yak as I type this.

love Man vs Wild but have never seen survivorman...if its as good as Mvs W i want to see it... nowww

The difference is Man vs Wild is kind of hypothetical- they go out and set up scenarios for him to show you how to do things. Entertaining in its own way.

Survivorman just takes a camera and actually goes out and does it.

I prefer Survivorman. It just seems more realistic. :)

Les Stroud is great.

Thats because hes really living out there 90% on his own. (sometimes he has a rescue crew he can radio in just in case)

Both guys are just completely badass

Bear Grylls is a complete idiot. I could go on and on with all the stupid things he has done. But the one that sticks out with me is when he builds a bridge out of sticks and when he puts it down over the river it snaps. I don't know why he didn't let it down carefully.

Les Stroud on the other hand is really good. Most of the time it's just him by himselft which makes it authentic. And the content of his show is so much better than Man vs. Wild. Love his show.

I was totally grossed out when he (Bear Grylls) ate that skunk and the raw eyeball of that yak!

I was thinking about a thread about this the other day. Les is much better.
haha ya heard that too. I love survivorman as he does his own filming and has to end up walking twice as far to setup the cameras to catch a lot of the scenes
That is what I like about the show, he is his own film crew. And he teaches you how to survive.

Both are good, just in different ways. If I had to pick, I'd go with Survivorman simply because he shoots the shot himself and does a really impressive job of it.

On a related note, I read that Les Stroud is going to quit doing Survivorman because it's so physically exhausting. He's negotiating to change his contract to host a new show for the Science channel.

He will be missed. I can understand tho, you can tell in the new episodes that the lonelyness has really started to get to him latey (whenever they were filmed).

It cant be easy.

I'm looking forward to seeing what he ends up doing next. Could be very cool, if given the right concept to work with.

He is going to find Bear and say I need to survive and eat him.:p

I know you were joking, but if Bear and Les were stranded together, I think it'd be Bear doing the eating...

Then again, I don't know how you'd strand these two guys without them turning it into some kind of vacation!

lol watch them turn a pile of bark and worms into a day spa sipping delicious pina coolattas

I like Bear for his presentation. He's just really good at putting on a great show.

Survivorman is great for the reasons stated about, that is... he films himself, shows more how to survive. I think both shows are fantastic though.

:)
