"MANALAPAN, NJ — A Freehold man working for an overnight cleaning company at the Route 9 Best Buy is accused of stealing dozens of iPods from a locked storage area inside the store, before he was nabbed on video surveillance and arrested Saturday, police said.

Carlos Peralta, 49, of Spring Street in Freehold, is charged with taking 14 8 GB iPod Touches, seven 32 GB iPod Touches, eight 64 GB iPod Touches, one 16 GB iPod Nano, and two 2 GB iPod Shuffles from a locked cage in the storage area while he was there in his capacity as the overnight cleaner from early September through the time of his arrest on Saturday, according to Capt. Christopher Marsala.

Peralta was captured on video surveillance cameras prior to his arrest, Marsala added.

The 32 iPod products have a retail value of $8,349.68, Marsala added.

Peralta is being held in the Monmouth County Jail in Freehold Township on $10,000 bail.

Police declined to release a photo of the suspect.

Some people will do anything to get their hands on the latest Apple products.... Very disappointed in people these days.

To show total value in price

They could have said "...stole X number of iPods, with a total value of X dollars", and spared people from having to do the calculation themselves. Lol.

Not saying I agree that that is the reason. I think some geek wrote the blurb and just felt compelled to list them.

Fortunately, however, Best Buy's representatives were able to reach the suspect while he was in custody and sell him an extended warranty on each of the iPods.

It says that right at the bottom...

don't you hate it when you strike up a good conversation with these reps and they kill everything trying to sell you those extended warranties??!
