I recently replaced my MacBook with an iPad Pro. However, I have a few Apple Photos libraries on an external hard drive that I would access from my MacBook. I don’t suppose there is any way to manage those libraries from an iOS device?

My other option would be to copy the “Masters” folder that contains all of my photos and videos out of the library container file and use an app like FileExplorer to manage the folders.

Is there an iOS app that would reference a folder full of folders of photos in order to create an organized library interface on my devices?

Open to all suggestions. Thanks!

One our iPad Pros with hookup a WD Wireless Passport Pro. It connects via wifi to the iPad. The WD iCloud app on the iPad uses Files to see the folders and subfolders on the Passports's drive (HD or SSD) and also on the Passport's USB2 port. In the field if I need to edit an image and give it to someone on a memory stick I can use the Passport's USB2 drive to write the edited image.

I have no experience using Photos to try to access or edit images on the Passport drive. I use Lr as my library and basic editing engine. When we get home from a trip all the images are on the iPad. We use Image Capture on our iMacs to bring in the raw files from the iPad to the iMac. Then we have Lr Classic import them into the Lr library.

Once Adobe releases Photoshop for iPad next year, there could be more possibilities for working on the iPad. Personally I find Lr Mobile and Lr CC almost useless.
