Manage which applications play sound, control volumes?

does anyone know of an app that does this? basically, i want it to live up in my menu bar (or wherever), and it knows my running applications and can individually turn up or down (or mute) the sound for each one. do you know of any mac app like one i am talking about?

I don't think there is one for OS X either.

we are talking about the mac.. not iphone..

I can't find one. Universal, yet app specific volume would be cool. AirFoil was the closest, but still not what you're looking for.
