That looks MUCH easier to open than my 2006 model. It's good to see Apple moving in the right direction.

The ram and hard drive replacement is the same as the other models. Except this one, you have to take the entire cover off to get access to both items, while the other is half a cover for hdd and the other half for the memory.

Eh? You mean it can be user replaced?

It's probably like the MacBook Air battery. Remove some screws and detach a power cable from the header, and it just lifts out. It's not the convenient on-the-go half-cover and ZIF connector the MB and 15" MBP have, but it shouldn't be that hard if you actually know what you're doing.

At least those ten screws will make it harder for a thief to steal your HDD or RAM (and yes, it's happened). Plus, honestly, how many times a day are you going to take that cover off anyway? Glad to see the HDD and RAM is user accessible/replaceable.

The service source manual (aka the real manual) is also available for those with GSX permissions.... would post a link but then i'd get in deep trouble....

"Do not remove the battery from your MacBook Pro. The battery
should be replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider"
