OS X 10.8, Messages.app:

Long story short, I sent my friend a message to his iPhone that consisted of about a billion "hi"s. It looked something like this: "Hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi," and so on. For a long time.

It froze Messages.app and now I can't open it, really. Every time I do, it stops responding immediately and then it makes my MacBook Air go crazy. Activity Monitor shows that it uses as much as 96% of my CPU at once. It gets hot, fans go nuts. You know.

How do I fix this? Can I go in and manually delete this message?

Thank you in advance. I know I'm a dumbass.
