Manually disable Touchbar when watching movies?

Is there a way to manually disable the TouchBar when watching movies? For example, when I'm trying to watch Netflix or HBO, I need to wait a certain amount of time before the touchbar disappears, which is pretty distracting when trying to watch a movie.
