manually forward/back through screensaver images?

I am a very happy Mac convert for 6 months. However, I have yet to figure out how to manually go forwards/backwards through screensaver images when the screensaver is active. In Windows, the right and left arrow keys allow one to do this when the screensaver is active. Is there a way to do it on a Mac?
