It took all day but I managed to cull out a lot of files I no longer need from my old imac and my new imac is running nicely. The only negative is I have literally years worth of imessage conversations on the old imac. Is there any way to copy that over so I can still continue those? Thank you!

If you were for some reason using iCloud Messages, they should just sync over, although it may take a while.

Been a few hours and nothings come over. Only thing I have is new messages I've gotten today and that's it.

You have of course looked in Messages --> Preferences --> iMessage

Thanks for the tip. It was off and I clicked the check box. That "sync now" doesn't show up on the right though and remains greyed out.

I would try giving it some time and maybe restart devices too. Sometimes simple changes and syncing in e.g. 'Notes' takes more time than expected...
